Owner/Client:
City of Lincoln Sanitary Sewer Department
General Contractor:
K2 Construction
Superintendent: Billy Kaster
Description of Work:
This project consisted of the replacement of a sanitary sewer pipe that had deteriorated. The pipe ran underneath BNSF Railroad tracks and was underperforming. The project was originally designed with manholes on either side of the tracks and new corrugated metal pipe. Through the use of a hydro-excavator, which safely uncovered the pipe, K2 determined that the existing sanitary pipe was in good condition and could be reused, just not under these conditions. An excavator along with a directional bore rig were used to pull the existing pipe out of the casting. After cleaning the pipe it was preserved for future use. A new 20” clay tile pipe that was able to withstand extreme temperatures and corrosive material flow was installed. K2 was able to complete the project ahead of schedule and under budget therefore saving time and money.

Superintendent: Todd Lineweber
Description of Work:
The existing sanitary sewer main ran through residential housing backyards and was punctured when a house fell from its drilled pier foundation. The City of Lincoln had employees on site around the clock in order to by-pass the leaking sewer main. K2 Construction installed a new 8 inch sewer main by directional boring within two days of work. The directional bore consisted of a 15 foot deep by 700 foot long sewer pipe, on grade, that ran through two manholes before it was tied in to an existing 15 inch sanitary sewer main.

Superintendent: Jesse Reeves
Description of Work:
This project consisted of installing over 5000 linear feet of 30 inch diameter pipe for a new trunk sewer for the City of Lincoln . This was a challenging project because over the horizontal feet, there was only 5 vertical feet of elevation change from the beginning of the project to the end of the project. K2 personnel also had to deal with ground water on this project which was another challenge to overcome. The sewer was installed on time and at the proper elevation.
